In a recent webinar offered by Webjunction I learned a great deal about the Affordable Care Act. Libraries have the opportunity to assist the public by providing access to public computers in order to streamline the sign up process. Individuals can also apply using paper applications, but the online application provides real time plan and cost information to the subscriber. There will be navigators to assist subscribers as they navigate the sign up process. Sign up begins on October 1 and will run through mid March with coverage beginning January 1, 2014.

Using the online site to sign up will also provide subscribers with instant information regarding the government subsidies available to them to help offset the cost of policies as well as out of pocket expenses.
